Demagnetizers kit for wind generators DKWG
Wind turbine construction requires support structures. The design of these support structures for offshore wind farms depends on the water depth but includes tripods and balance frames. These large structures are manufactured from steel by welding pipe sections. If the steel components are magnetised then the field concentrates in the weld preparation. This magnetic field causes arc wander and in extreme cases arc blow. While it may be possible to complete the welding the quality will be affected. These welds are supporting a large sail that exerts considerable forces. It is essential that the welds on the support structure are high quality, not least because the structure must maintain its integrity in a harsh subsea environment for decades.
DKWG provides everything needed to overcome magnetic arc blow in one package. At its heart is the world leading Zeromag machine which measures and neutralizes magnetic fields which may be present in the weld preparation region of mating steel components. Zeromag is a portable machine that can be carried by one person to the position on the structure where the welding is occurring.
Critical to overcoming arc blow in large steel structures is effective coupling of the nulling magnetic field into the weld preparation. ZeroZone, designed specifically for large steel structures, is the perfect tool in combination with Zeromag. ZeroZone is a portable and flexible magnetic amplifier. Positioned across the weld preparation the ZeroZone facilitates field nulling not only between its jaws but a considerable distance along the weld preparation. This minimises the number of times the ZeroZone needs to be moved during the job. Extra extension cables are supplied to give a good working distance between ZeroZone and Zeromag
The kit comprises:
- Zeromag ZM100A demagnetizer
- Air cooled magnetic probe

- Magmeter MF300H+ gaussmeter
- Extension cables
- Storage and shipping cases
Other components of the kit include the MF300H+, the tool of choice for measuring in magnetism in weld preparations. The ZM2PG air cooled probe which is built from stainless steel and is sufficiently robust that it can be used close to active welding in the weld prep.
A full set of extension cables is provided and the whole kit is supplied in 2 robust packing cases for transport and storage.
